Hello!!!
Incase you didn't already figure out I was excited by the surplus of explanation marks (I was thinking 12, but went with a wee bit more subtle).
Anyways, something very exciting has happened here in the RQA household. Last Sunday, we were blessed enough to get a little kitten! Yes, I know! Blue has been home alone longer and longer, and we wanted to get her a little buddy to hang out with. So we drove a couple of hours away, and came home with a fluffy 8 week old bundle of fluff.
Meet Lily.
It's a little different having two cats now, but after a day of two of hiss and run, we now have hours of cuddle, run and wrestle. Lily has fit in perfectly, and she is a gorgeous Snowshoe. We originally wanted another Siamese, but we saw her picture and fell in love. And she still had the little jewel blue eyes.
And yes, she is adopted!!!! We found her on one of the internets best resources, PetFinder.com . She is a purebred, her mother and the other kittens were dumped, and they are all perfect snowshoes. Just goes to show you that shelter pets aren't old, unwanted, ugly things. There's an abundance of all animals, including pure breeds, babies and even both in one package! It's no secret that I have been volunteering with Toronto Cat Rescue for years now, and have over a hundred hours logged with them. Shelter pets are definitely the way to go. There's one for everybody and they are usually much cheaper. A pet quality snowshoe easily costs 3x as much as Lily normally, plus she has all her shots, has been microchipped, and will be spayed free of charge. It was all included in the adoption fee.
Anyways, I am giddy. And so is Blue, she loves having a friend. We all get cosy wt night, and they'll lie on me and groom each other. Insert awws here, I know.
Also, in case anyone noticed, yes, she does bear a striking resemblance to Tard, aka Grumpy Cat :P
Look at the pictures, and try not to scream 'IT'S SO FLUFFY!!!' with delight.

Goodbye. I'll see you at Rainbow Bridge.
Hey guys.
So today my dear pet rat Momo died. He lived a good long life, and was comfortable throughout, but it's still sad to see him go.
As a pet owner, it can be easy to blame yourself for their death. You wish they could have told you what was wrong, or that you should of looked closer and found out. I feel like I should have taken better care of him, maybe given more time, more love.
But the truth is, I took the best care of him that I could have. I hope he knew that. It's sad to see him go, but he had a long, enriching life. Instead of the what-ifs, I'm choosing to keep the fond memories of him. The snuggles, the loving, and the kisses.
They say adopting a pet is one of the best things you can do, and it is. I'm happy that I took him home and gave him a chance, his problems and all. And I know he was thankful for it, running around a big two story cage instead of a shoebox sized one, and getting to be in a home.
There are some many things I wish I could say to him, but now, all I can say is,
Goodbye Momo. I love you. See you at Rainbow Bridge.

Small Legs = Big Cute
I'll admit it.
I am obsessed with animals with really short legs. They just make me feel all warm and fuzzy; even though my cat is the equivalent of a furry, feline spaghetti noodle. So I thought I'd introduce you to one of the ridiculously cutest breeds of cats.
The Munchkin.
PS. Sorry for the tardiness, I was volunteering at an adoptathon and forgot about posting this. I know, bad excuse, my LA teacher would not be pleased.

Yes. A cat with teeny tiny legs, it's namesake being those little people from the Magical Land of Oz (think Dorothy, Glenda and the Tin Man; not Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman). They come in three leg sizes, standard, super-short, and rug hugger. And I's loves me some rug huggers.

The Dandie Dinmont should watch out. I have a new stubby legged love.

So Creepy It's Cute, Or Maybe The Other Way Around?
Yup. Just another awkwardly cute hamster going through those hormone-ridden teenage years...
Hope you had a good week and Happy Weekend :)

Really Quite Cute Fridays
I am a big animal person (there is a cat on my lap and a dog at my feet as I am typing this), but when people ask me whether I am a dog or cat person, it's not really something I can answer. Sure I have a cat because I'm too busy (read: lazy) to do all the work of taking care of a dog, but I still am almost always taking care of one. Ash -my aunt's Bichon-Shih Tzu mix- is staying over now. I do however agree that dogs and cats are to very different breeds, just like their owners. Here's a little 'diary' that has been floating around the magical place that is the Internet that sums up how different dogs and cats think. I thought it was fun, so I thought I would share.

The Cat's Diary
Day 983 of My Captivity
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.
The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. Bastards!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now ...
